Sara-Placid Lakers Hockey
Hockey builds more than skills. It builds confidence. Character. Camaraderie. It teaches kids to get back up when they fall (and how to laugh when they do). It brings families together—and makes winter in the North Country something to look forward to.

When & Where
Our season runs from October through March (with some pre-season skills sessions for certain age groups in September), with practices and games held at Saranac Lake Civic Center and Lake Placid Olympic Center.
Practices
Most Lakers teams practice 2-3 times per week, alternating between the Saranac Lake Civic Center and Lake Placid Olympic Center.
Games
The number of games played each season varies by age group and increases as the age group increases. On average, our teams play 20-40 games over the course of the season and games are usually played on the weekends.
Jerseys & Socks
Game jerseys and socks are provided for every registered player. Athletes should wear their own non-game jersey and socks to practice.
Extra Costs
In addition to the registration fee, expect to also pay for the required USA Hockey membership fee.
Fundraising & Volunteer Requirement
Volunteers are necessary for our association to operate and games to run smoothly. Each family is required to volunteer throughout the season. Various opportunities to volunteer include coaching, running the clock, keeping the scoresheet, manning a tournament booth, and more.
Each registered player is responsible for selling 10–15 raffle tickets (depending on the age group) as part of our annual fundraiser. Families with multiple players are capped at 30 total raffle tickets. Unsold tickets will be billed to the registrant.
Raffle ticket sales are an essential part of keeping registration fees affordable for all families. Every dollar raised helps cover the cost of ice time, equipment, and program development. Your participation directly supports our mission to make youth hockey accessible in the Tri-Lakes region.
If your family chooses not to participate in raffle sales or volunteering, there is a $150 buyout option available at the time of registration.
