Team Manager Role
The Glue Behind the Bench
Team Managers play a big role in keeping each team running smoothly—on and off the ice. You’ll help with communication, paperwork, coordination, and making sure players (and parents!) have what they need. While coaches focus on the game, Team Managers help make sure everything else is in place.
Team Managers are listed on official rosters and must complete a few quick requirements before the season begins.
Requirements
To be rostered as a Team Manager, you’ll need to complete:
- Volunteer USA Hockey Registration: This is free and must be renewed annually. Register here
- SafeSport Training: A required online course that helps ensure a safe, supportive environment for all players. Also free.
- NYSAHA Background Screening: This is a $30 fee paid to New York State Hockey—but the Lakers association will reimburse you.
Key Responsibilities

Make sure every player and parent has signed and submitted a form.
